Rainy Pass sure has been rough on the mushers this year. Howling winds pinned down several teams over the last few days, with lots of teams dropping out rather than press forward over the Alaska Range. Here are the latest additions to the scratch list:

Scratched: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, 3/7 at Rainy Pass
Reason:None specifically reported by the Trail Commitee
Perry Solomonson (two-time Iditarod veteran)
Scratched: 11:00 p.m., Wednesday, 3/7 at Rainy Pass
Reason: Poor weather and difficult trail conditions
Scott White (rookie)
Scratched: 12:35 p.m., Wednesday, 3/7 at Rainy Pass
Reason: Poor weather and frostbite
As of this writing, all remaining mushers have left the Rainy Pass checkpoint, the last being rookie Deborah Molburg Bicknell, who departed this morning (3/7) just after 9:00 a.m. with 13 dogs on the line.
