AK host and Iditarod trail reported Gabriel Spitzer sat down with author Gary Paulsen just prior to the start of the race to chat about why he moved back to Alaska and took on the challenge of the Iditarod yet again. Paulsen covered his dog adventures in the popular book Winterdance: The Fine Madness of Running the Iditarod.
Paulsen ended up scratching early in the 2005 race, but being a great storyteller, he captures the excitement, the unpredictability and the pleasures of running dogs on the Last Frontier as he remembers his past and looks ahead to starting another race.
